Emulsion problems: Et2O and water

How can I seperate an emulsion between diethylether and a strong alkalic water solution effieciently and without waiting especially long?

My wild guesses:
Use ultrasound?
Use a centrifuge?
Heat the emulsion sligthly so the densitydifferences is changed?

Surprisingly, I have done this workup plenty of times now, but suddenly now I get an emulsion. How can that be possible?

Maybe adding NaCl?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

Also sometimes adding a touch of EtOH can help break up an emulsion.

Thanx :-)

I saturated the watersolution with NaCl. It worked perfectly well. And later on (helped by another tip I got from this forum, adding Toluene to remove Acetic Acid as an azeotrope), I got 50% crude yield, and that is really great. GC is showing my phenol in satisfactory purity :-)
