Titration of ortho-chloranil
« on: September 29, 2021, 05:04:45 PM »
Hi All,

I am looking for a way to determine assay of o-chloranil (CAS: 2435-53-2).
So far I have only found "Titration by AgNO3 - After Oxygen Combustion".
Does anyone know what this combustion means and what the exact procedure is?
Are there any other analytical method for determining assay (or maybe purity?).

Sounds like determining amount of Cl- in the burnt up sample. If memory serves me well that means using specialized pressurized combustion chamber (similar to the one used for burning samples in calorimetry).
