What is the difference between the second ionization energy of K and the second ionization energy of Ca? My answer is “K has 19 protons in the nucleus while Ca has 20 protons in its nucleus” and my teacher gave me the feedback “focus on the valence shell. What is the difference between the two elements when it comes to the number of valence electrons?”
