What is the process that will make tideglusib more water soluble np928?
The key is to remove two benzene rings.
Please see attachement for structural formula.

If you modify the molecule, it won't be tideglusib anymore.

@OP,  Were you given this molecule as an assignment?  Can you provide your own thoughts first?  Thank you.

The only method that I heard of about removing benzene ring is called Birch Reduction.  My own idea is to mix it with AlCl3 to separate bennzene ring.  Then remove a freed benzene ring.  For the remaining is to mix with some compound that will remove chloride. And yes, it will no longer be tideglusib but a different compound - a striped version of tideglusib that is more soluble in water.   No, it is not an assignment, just a question out of curiosity.    :)

@carbonatedpop I heard that substituting aromatic -H with -OH increases solubility of the aromatic compounds.

I don't disagree, but I would have tried to lead the OP to this by questions.

Birch reduction will reduce benzene to cyclohexadiene, it won't remove the ring.
