One mole of an ideal monoatomic gas, inititally at 00
C, is reversibly and adiabatically
expanded to 4 times its initial pressure. Determine dq, dw, ΔU, ΔH, ΔS, ΔA and ΔG for the
process

Physical Chemistry help #2

The initial pressures for the reaction H2 + I2 W 2 HI (K = 54.3) are PH2 = PI2 = 0.072 atm and
PHI = 0.55 atm.
A) Is the reaction at equilibrium under these conditions?
B) If it is not at equilibrium, in which direction will it shift and what will the final
 equilibrium pressures be?

An acetone-methanol solution is prepared in which χAcet = 0.400 (liquid phase mole fraction)
and y acet (vapor phase mole fraction) = 0.516 at 570
C. Calculate the activity coefficients of
each component (P* acetone = 786 torr, P*methanol = 551 torr).

Collision frequency, density, diameter question
« Reply #3 on: December 21, 2021, 08:49:17 AM »
 Helium gas (4 g/mol) at 25o
C and 5 x 10-3 mm Hg pressure has a mean free path of 25.88 M.
Determine the collision frequency, collision density and diameter of the helium atom.

Given that, for a certain reaction, k = 4.67 x 10-6 at 400C and k = 13.9 x 10-6 at 500C, calculate
the following at 400C:
a) Activation Energy (Ea)
b) Pre-exponential Factor at 400C(A)
c) Gibb’s Free Energy of the transition state at 400
C (ΔG‡)
d) The Enthalpy of the transition state (ΔH‡)
c) The Entropy of the transition state (ΔS‡)
