More specifically, the question is to calculate the number of valence electrons in the conduction states for 1 mol of the intrinsic semiconductor Si (Eg = 1.1 eV) at 300 K (KB = 8.617 x 10-5 eV/K).
The lecturer has not provided any equations related to this, which is why I'm struggling to calculate it.

Are you aware of the relationship between the Boltzmann constant and the distribution among energy levels in a system of (particles/whatever) at temperature T?
(I.e., do you know how to use partition functions? See section "Role in Boltzmann Factors" here.)
