COVID-19: Face Mask Discussion
« on: January 11, 2022, 08:57:03 PM »
This question is slightly off-topic from the general chemistry discussion but, this discussion could benefit many of those working in the chemistry/laboratory industry.

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many of the scientific industries implementing the wearing of face coverings in laboratories. Although unfavourable, we must try our best to protect ourselves and our colleagues.

I'm exempt from wearing a face-covering, but I wish to try my best to adhere to these guidelines, support my peers and set an example to others.

I'm finding it difficult to wear a face-covering due to: heat, humidity, comfort and safety; having to adjust whilst handling chemicals (not to mention the safety glasses fogging up!).

For those having already dealt with similar experiences, have you been able to find a particular type of face-covering, which you find comfortable and safe to use whilst in the laboratory?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  :)

I find that masks which have a bendable nose piece minimize the fogging-up problem.
