Vacuum distillation device and pressure
« on: January 12, 2022, 10:34:51 AM »
I would like to know what is the maximum pressure that a borosilicate still with a fractional column can withstanding without imploding on me. I am planning to couple it with an amazon vacuum chamber and 1/3 HP pump that is capable of drawing a vacuum up to 30 in hg. The reason why I am asking for this is because if I am distilling various essential oils they decompose at higher temperatures and somewhere around 30C to 40C max would be ideal. Many thanks.

The only sure way to know is to ask at the manufacturer, there is no "one size fits all" answer.
