Just a question out of curiosity, are long chain hydrocarbons (like decane, dodecane and longer) harder to purify compared to short chain ones like methane, ethane etc. I have been thinking about it and searching online but cannot find much about this, or are they all equally difficult to acquire?

Did you considered comparing their physical properties ? Like boiling point or else ?

When the chains grows longer physical differences become smaller, but still enough to separate them.

Maybe some heavier hydrocarbons (like C > 40 - 60) could do a problem, but decane and dodecane - no.
