Chiral HPLC

(1/1)

Hi all!
I recently carried out a synthesis where a chalcone is dimerized:

By virtue of how the catalyst functions, the major product is the only one shown, with negligible amounts of cycloaddition product from a head to head addition, and with one major diastereomer. However, the product is a racemic mixture, and I am planning on using a chiral HPLC to determine the ee (if any). In this regard, do I need to purify my reaction mixture before hand (ie remove the catalyst and starting material that is left) or is it ok to put the crude reaction mixture onto a chiral column in a HPLC?
