measuring sodium chloride density
« on: April 15, 2023, 03:26:45 AM »
hi all
as you know the volume of every solid object can be measured by floating it in water. now my question is for measuring sodium chloride density or whatever which can dissolve in water, can I use water to measure the volume again or I have to use a solvent which sodium chloride can not dissolve in , such as oil or a nonpolar solvent in general.

To get sodium chloride or whatever to float all you need to do is put it in a ‘boat’. Think about that and you should be able to figure out the answer to your question.

thanks, you mean I should use a solvent which can't dissolve sodium chloride. am I right?

Yes.
