Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
(1/1)
AmberLynn:
I did an experiment called determining the empirical formula of zinc iodide. I put 2.147 grams of zinc and 1.987g of iodine into a flask and added 25ml methanol. It was heated until it turned clear then set aside to cool. If i would have used water as the solvent when doing this would my results have been different? I was thinking about solubility or something, but i have no clue. Please help me, if you want to im me my screen name on aim is cutelilredhead42. I have a few more questions i'd like to discuss with someone.... thanks
Tetrahedrite:
What exactly do you want to know, why methanol is used or how to calculate the empirical formula?
Mitch:
methanol is superior to water in dissolving iodine.
