Analysis of a Iron (III)-dextran solution without AAS
« on: December 07, 2023, 06:20:55 PM »
Hi all,

I have a solution of Iron(III)-dextran and need to determine Fe using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry and/or Titrimetry. USP indicates the use of AAS for Fe assay but we don't have access to that equipment in our lab.

So far, Iron-dextran solution doesn't have shown reactivity towards acidification (30% HNO3) and no color development have been seen with common Fe (III) ligands (such as SCN- or salycilate).

My question is if you can kindly suggest methods of digestion/decomposition of the Iron(III)-dextran complex in order to leave Fe available for further complexation/reaction.

Many thanks in advance!
