Brainstorming research ideas
(1/1)
k1aska:
Undergrad research opportunity is allowing me to pick my own research topic (Chemistry specific) and design my own experiment for the next ~2 years
Help me brainstorm ideas?
These can be specific or broad strokes- something that seems interesting to you
**not looking for someone to put together my research project— I’m here for ideas that I can study to decide my final project direction 🙏🏼

To make methanol from sunlight and compound like CO2 seems exciting and important now when we need alternatives for fossil fuels, I know many are working in this area.

Google can be your friend

If it's about Organic Chemistry, then I will suggest :
Find any product in the market which appeals you, for example, anti-mosquito liquid, floor cleaner, any aromatic liquid used for different purpose, any nasal spray etc.
Try to make exactly same product with its side effects, if any, removed through your research. It is called 'Applied Chemistry'.
For example, there can be 'anti-mosquito' spray which is completely natural, but not so effective, but a spray can be developed which can be natural with some added organic chemicals and with increased effectiveness. This kind of research will help you a lot in future.
Tell me your opinion about it. Best of luck!
