Extraction of Potassium from Potassium Iodide

(1/1)

urend:
So ive extracted the iodine from my potassium iodide but im not too sure how to extract to potassium from my solution. Any ideas?

Hunter2:
Not easy, can use precipitation reaction. Refer to potassium salts solubility. Also can use ion exchanger.

Borek:
What do you mean by "potassium" - just metal? Won't be easy, it is highly reactive.

Oxidizing iodine and collecting it in elemental form is a breeze in comparison.

Aldebaran:
You could try electrolysis of the molten salt. Melting point of KI is 630 C so not too extreme but not an easy experiment to pull off. I’ve done this in the lab with lead bromide but never tried it to get potassium. Good luck.

billnotgatez:
The OP never said how they extracted the Iodine from KI.
