f exp value

(1/1)

myelver10:
i don't quite understand how to determine the f value if all you are given is the standard deviation and mean of a set of data..    the formula my professor gave was the square of the standard deviation divided by sigma squared which is something i'm not really sure about ( what does the sigma stand for????)

Donaldson Tan:
this is basic statistics. i think your professor based the experimental data on the normal distribution curve and uses an equation (i know it exists) to map a given value to the standard statistical normal model

Mitch:
By f value do you mean degrees of freedom? It is a difficult concept to grasp, and I suggest doing a lot of examples until you get a hang of it.
