On the tool bar, there is a link to insert pictures. The link to insert pictures looks like a picture.

In this reaction i was unsure what R1 and R2 stand for as well as X.  Im also not sure what the semi circle in the reaction means, if anyone could clearify what these things are it would be much appreciated.  It's a pain, i have to define this whole article on palladium-catalyzed chemo- and enantioselective oxidation of allylic esters and carbonates as my science fair project and final in my chemistry lab class.

R1 and R2 are alkyl groups that may or may not be the same.
X is a leaving group
The semi circle is a de-localised double bond.

hey, thanks that makes things a bit more clear, but one last thing, on the product side of the reaction what is the second molecule left, or is it unimportant to the reaction. since the article im reading doesn't seem to talk about it at all.

It's the other reaction product that comes from the reagent used above the 1st arrow.
