separation inquiry
(1/1)
tashkent:
Greetings everyone!
I have a question regarding the separation of toluene, aniline and benzoic acid which I encountered in the GRE Chemistry exam. What separation technique will be the best way to isolate these compounds? Choices are" GC-MS, anion exchange resin, cation exchange resin, and 2 qualitative chemical tests which I already forgot. My friend says that they can be differentiated through qualitative chemical tests. Is he correct?
Hope to receive replies from u guys. Thanks so much.
Regards,
Tashkent

GC-MS
You would use cation exchange to seperate cations & anion exchange to seperate anions. Because you have a mixture of anion, cation (aniline) and a neutral toluene the best choice is GC-MS.
