synthetic polymer used with paint and dry pigment
« on: December 09, 2006, 12:03:57 AM »
does anyone know how I can use synthetic polymer to mix with dry pigment and have the dry pigment (ultramarine) retain its color as when it was dry, because when i mix it with oil it gets too dark. I know the painter yves klein did something like this with chemists

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking....

You mean, the pigment loses its color when you put it in oil, and you want the color to stay?

If so, then try another pigment...

Also, if it's too dark, maybe you just added too much pigment?

Let us know and clarify what's up...I'm gonna keep my eye on this thread :)

thanks a lot man....maybe i did add too much pigment I didn't think about that....well the reason I used this pigment is because its a special color its very vibrant.....ill try that but I know that this french painter Yves Klein used synthetic polymer to keep the pigment dry and retain moisture from it...do you know where to get synthetic polymer? or how I can do that

There are sooooo many synthetic polymers.  Anything you see that's made of plastic?  Polymer.  Foam insulation?  Polymer.  Elmer's glue?  Polymer.
Googled it...apparently it's called International Klein Blue, but I can't seem to find a structure of the resin.  Sorry!
