Ascorbic Acid 2-Glucoside
« on: December 27, 2006, 12:45:05 PM »
Hi
Is anyone know simple method (not HPLC) preferable titration
to determinate quantitative this compound??
Iodometric titration is can't be use because this compound
is not reacting with iodine.

UV/Vis spectroscopy:
Maximum absorption ~280nm at pH 2.0
Maximum absorption ~260nm at pH 5.0,7.0 and 9.0

Would be the easiest and most direct way.

If you do not have access to a UV/Vis spectrophotometer, you might look into a DCPIP (2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol) titration.

Thank you for answer.

I am looking for methde which not need any additional equipment.
Thats why UV/Vis spectroscopy is not right for me.
DCPIP titration is also based on oxidizing
double bound in ascorbic acid (like iodometry),
are you sure it strong enought oxidizer to react with Ascorbic Acid 2-Glucoside??
