IR spectrometry Updated with attachment of my cyclohexene
« on: January 25, 2007, 12:02:47 AM »
cyclohexene

Does anyone know the ranges for C-C bonds and C=C bonds

or lead me to a website with the appropriate ranges for the peaks.

We did this in lab.

C=C should appear around 1600 cm-1

I have peaks at 2913  C-H

one at 2842 C-H

one at 1452

that would be my double bond  right

we just did this today and he said to follow the chart

how do u know if their distinguished peaks if their long or what??  I was just given the chart and i read the stuff on wiekepedia think that correct.

how does it look??
I will show u what i got if someone knows how to add attachment for me and tell me how to do it.  that would be great.

The main stretches you should focus on are around 2900 cm-1 for sp3 hybridized C-H stretches, and around
1600 cm-1 for the alkene.

It might not be exactly 1600 cm-1

I attached the document which shows my IR spec.  How does it look??

only one i think I need to modify is the 1630 that would be my C=C double bond as shown from the attachment.

1452 would be my C-H

2913 would be my C-H
2842 C-H

ttyl.
