Heat conductivity and Melting point
« on: February 02, 2007, 08:50:10 AM »
Aluminium is a good thermal conductor. Is this because it contributes 3 electrons to the mettalic bond, therefore more energy could be transfered by Kinetic Energy?
The melting point of Aluminium is also high, is this because in the mettalic bond the cations are held strongly together by 3 valence electrons?
(I am comparing aluminium relative to other metals)

Thanks
