how it is done and why...

Just using a conductivity measuring instrument to measure.

But We need to use a beaker to contain the water (as the diameter of the stick is great) and the height of water must be higher than the hole of the stick in the instrument. Then press any bottom that the instructor will teach you!Hope this helps!
