Element + Periodic Table Help
« on: April 16, 2007, 09:49:37 PM »
Hi,
I have 2 questions...

The first is: Why do the boiling points of the halogens (group 7) and the noble gases (group0) increase with atomic number down the graph?

I think the answer has something to do with the structure fo the atoms.

The Second is: i need a website that tells me the "nature of oxides" of most of the elements on the periodic table. does anyone know of such a place to find information???/
By nature, i mean Acidic, Neutral, or Base.

thanks
ryan

1. Heavier atoms and greater dispersion forces. (assuming that I understand your question correctly)

2. wikipedia.org and google.com
