K, stability constant of transition metal complexes
« on: May 05, 2007, 05:32:24 AM »
Hi,
Just want to check that I am understanding this correctly.
If K>1 then products are formed, in this case the complex ion is formed.
The magnitude of K, indicates the stabilty of the complex formed. - the larger k is the more stable the complex is and the easiest it is formed. If K is small say 100 that indicates the complex is not easily formed and is not stable whereas if K was 1000000 The complex is easily formed and is stable.

Have I got that correct?

thanks
