Cleaning carbon coated glass tubes
« on: May 14, 2007, 03:36:28 PM »
I have a Nitrogen-Sulphur analyzer that uses a combustion furnace. Whenever there is a disruption of oxygen supply, it causes the furnace and tubes to soot up inside with carbon. There is one particular L shaped insulated glass tube that costs over US$1,500 to replace whenever this happens. Is there a chemical solution that could be used to safely oxidize the carbon coating?
