can phosphate bind to glass
(1/1)
scamp:
Hi,
I recall once reading that phosphate can bind to glass over time, is this true? How does it do that?
What could this mean for substances dissolved in say a phosphate buffer?
Thanks

As I know, this rarely occurs. You know, the main component of glass is silicate existing in tetrahedral blocks. This mean that metal ions can be absorbed on glass with very small amount. That why you can not use glass container for metal ion solution in trace analysis.
For phosphate, I don't think that it can bind to glass.
Anyway, it is all my knowledge, I will try to find out for further information.
