titration curves
« on: December 23, 2004, 01:18:13 AM »
I have some questions about titration curves...

Why is the buffer region of weak acid/strong base titration curve so "horizontal"? It rises so slow, why? Is there an equilvalent region on the strong acid/strong base titration curve?

Why does the pH increase so rapidly around the equivalence point? (Is there an explanation?)

Thank you for answering :D

The pH increases rapidly around the equivalence point because the function that describes the equlibrium is a logarithmic function.
