CS2 Lewis Structure?
« on: June 04, 2007, 06:00:24 PM »
Hi!

I just want to ask what the Lewis structure for CS2 is.

I thought it was a polar molecule, wasn't it?

Using equation, I figured out that it had one pair of unshared electrons. (AX2E1)
but I couldn't draw the Lewis structure for the molecule.

Please help me.. :-)

Wrong, try again.

Hint, look into multiple bonding.

This is one of my favorite molecules.

It may help to think about what atoms are LIKE sulphur.  Maybe in the same group.  What kind of molecules to THEY make with carbon?  Atoms in the same group have the same valence structure :)
