[The Einstein of chewitry]

I have tried to do this reaction but I have failed. I believe that is defeat for the dissolver (water). Does anybody know this reaction? Can you give me more information? I am not also sure that the salt Na NO2Me is good because it does not react violently with the water. Is it because it is not sufficiently dehydrated?
