In a jam and need some basic info
« on: June 29, 2007, 10:59:52 AM »
hello all,

I'm new to forum and have a limited understanding of chemistry. I am a Chemical Operator at a pharma intermediates company and I have a few questions about one of the intermediates I work with.

1. We call this chem. Boronic acid, but when I google boronic acid I get hundreds of different types:
on our shipping labels it reads:

Boronic Acid [2-(2-trityl-2h-tetrzol-5-yl)phenyl]

can someone tell me what this means?

I'm trying to find a reliable MSDS on this chemical.

Thanks alot

Boronic acid is just a general name for the functional group. Just think of it as a class. The [2-(2-trityl-2h-tetrzol-5-yl)phenyl]  is its actual IUPAC chemical name,

More on boronic acid in general.

You should be able to obtain the MSDS from the supplier you get your boronic acid from. If they do not supply it for free to you at your request, do not do business with them. Chance are pretty good they might have a link to it on their website as well.

Enahs,

Thank you for the information. I have an MSDS but I believe it to be incorrect and out dated. I have a CAS # if that helps in any way.

Why do you think the MSDS is out of date?

Is this a product the company you work for makes or buys in?
