Hi, I'm doing some kind of laboratory experiment on performing
a reaction of thiourea and Merrifield's Resin.
But, it seems I haven't chosen a good solvent for this reaction.
It is quite obvious to find that thiourea is very polar and Merrifield's Resin
is non-polar, and I have chosen to use THF as a solvent.
But, it seems the reaction doesn't take place in THF.
With IR spectrum, it was totally inconclusive, and since the product
didn't dissolve in solvents that I have, I wasn't able to run NMR of it.
So, my question is,
do I need to use a polar solvent? or non-polar solvent (like THF)?
I'm thinking about using DMF which is more polar than THF.
Please help me on this issue guys, thank you~!
