Carbon Disulphide + Calcium Oxide
« on: July 09, 2007, 03:05:55 PM »
Hi guys, I'm new here and also a not great at chemistry so sorry for the noob question, I would be really grateful for an answer though. I would like to know what reaction occurs between CS2 and CaO. Itgets hot and volatiles are driven off, is this CO2? Water is present from soil during the reaction btw. will suphur precipitate?l

CaO + CS2 + H2O = CO2 ???

Many thanks

Sean

Hummm, have you seen this reaction occur in the absense of water?
