Calcium with Acid

(1/1)

Julie:
Calcium is very reactive metal ...
What happen if I were to put calcium in acid  ???
And what would happen if I heat calcium directly with the bunsen bunner  ???

haiph12:
what acid  you were to put calcium?
H2SO4 or HCl

jdurg:
There would be a very rapid reaction as not only would the calcium react with the acid to produce hydrogen gas, but it would react with the water as well at a very rapid pace due to the increased heat being generated by the two reactions in unison.  I'm also guessing that the heat from the reaction, in addition to making an explosion, would cause anhydrous acid vapors to boil out of solution.

Julie:
With hydrochloric acid / nitrate acid ...
Anyway ... I've done the experiment ...  ;D
