Help me in checking this formulas.
« on: May 29, 2007, 11:26:30 PM »
Dear all,

Do you mind telling me if my formula's are correct?

Regards,

zazu.

Hot gas
   Initial temperature      Th   =      C
   Final temperature      TF   =      C
Mass of hot gas      Mh   =      kg
Cp of hot gas      Ch   =      kJ/kg.K
Cold gas
   Initial temperature      Tc   =      C
   Final temperature      TF   =      C
Mass of cold gas      Mc   =      kg
Cp of cold gas      Cc   =      kJ/kg.K

Formulas

(Mh*Ch*(TF-Th)) + (Mc*Cc*(TF-Tc)) = 0
(Mh*Ch*TF) - (Mh*Ch*Th) + (Mc*Cc*TF) - (Mc*Cc*Tc) = 0
(Mh*Ch*TF) + (Mc*Cc*TF) = (Mh*Ch*Th) + (Mc*Cc*Tc)
TF(Mh*Ch + Mc*Cc) = (Mh*Ch*Th) + (Mc*Cc*Tc)
TF = ((Mh*Ch*Th) + (Mc*Cc*Tc)) / (Mh*Ch + Mc*Cc)

(Mh*Ch*(TF-Th)) + (Mc*Cc*(TF-Tc)) = 0

Why do you add deltaQc and deltaQh? They should be identical - so you should subtract them.

Ytszazu's equation is right:
-dQh = Mh*Ch*(TF-Th)
+dQc = (Mc*Cc*(TF-Tc)
