iron oxide for thermite reaction
« on: January 11, 2005, 01:36:18 AM »
hi, ive been researching the thermite reaction for a long time and now ive decided to finally do it.  I made a bleach/vinegar solution and put the steelwool in it to rust.  So far so good, and i know this might be a basic question, but i dont have anything that will filter out the extremely fine powder from the rest of the solution.  Ive already tried a coffee filter, and that didnt drain at all.  Thanks for your *delete me*

Try electrolysing your steel wool in H2O2, that rusts iron wool to powder in minutes, and you arent left with any impurities, just boil off the remaining water that will be left behind :)
