How do you tell the difference between ionic and covalent bonds??

When you see a diagram of a molecule with lines representing bonds, can they either be covalent or ioninc? Only the hydrogren representation differs right? Hydrogen bonds are represented by dotted lines?

Solid lines connecting two atoms generally represent covalent bonds.  Hydrogen bonds are often represented by dotted lines.
