anyone know of a way to test vegetable oil for the presence of glycerin?

Because of different kinds of vegetable oil, try to compare with the standard oils by GC method.

I know that glycerin can be detected by its reaction with potassium permanganate (I.E. is smokes and catches fire), but if the glycerin is very heavily mixed into the oil I don't know if would react.  Also, I'm not sure if the KMnO4 will react adversely with the oil.  Hmmm....
