Bone analysis
« on: October 15, 2007, 11:05:37 AM »
For my chemistry coursework, I'm doing an analysis of calcium content in bones. My plan is to form calcium chloride, using concentrated HCl to dissolve the bone. However, the calcium in bones is in the form of hydroxylapatite, formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. Will all of the calcium still form calcium chloride, and what other products will be formed? Any ideas are much appreciated
