what's the difference between "agent" and "reagent"

Webster says:
agent - a chemically, physically, or biologically active principle
reagent - a substance that takes part in one or more chemical  reactions or biological processes and is used to detect other substances and for other purposes

Both terms are often used by chemists as synonyms
