Given this formula, Zr3(PO4)4. On the basis of this information, the formula for the sulfide of Zr would be what?

Since the particular formula was given, Zr must be Zr(IV) right? So the resulting formula would beZr2S4?

You are right about Zr(IV). Ratio Zr:S is correct - but Zr2S4 is wrong.
