« on: October 20, 2007, 08:30:14 PM »
so i am having problems finding the products of the following reaction:

calcium hydroxide base and sulfurous acid form ___________ and __________ .

therefore:
Ca(OH)2 + H2SO3 ---> CaS + ???

i can only think that the remaining (OH)2, H2, and O3 come together?? however i can't seem to find any chemical like that...

any help would be appreciated

 Ca(OH)2 + H2SO3 ----> CaSO3 + 2H2O

H2SO3 is not stable , H2SO3---> SO2 + H2O
 So Ca(OH)2 + SO2 ---CaSO3 + H2O
