Energy changes when dissolving compunds in water
« on: October 23, 2007, 07:00:08 PM »
Hey guys, I just have a quick question:
how is it that when dissolving a hydrate in water, for example NaCH3COO-3H2O, energy (heat) is realeased, but when dissolving an anhydrate such as NaCh3COO, energy is absorbed?
I know the first compund is a crystal so when dissasociated in water it releases heat, but what happens in the second experiment?
