hcfc225 and charcoal filters
« on: October 22, 2007, 12:13:23 PM »
Does anyone know if activated charcoal filters will work on removing HCFC 225 vapors from the air.  We work with the chemical for cleaning purposes and we need a filter on our tank vent.  Any suggestions?

HFCs (which are related) are absorbed on activated charcoal - there have been some papers on using HFC-134a in this way in a different refrigerator design. However, I don't know whether they would take out enough of the HCFCs for your application.

Have you approached suppliers of charcoal filters to see if they spec. their carbons against fluorocarbons?
