Hello!!!

I want to ask all forumers of www.chemicalforums.com for help.
My teacher ask our class for the etymology of words bensene and phenyl?
I know that phenyl comes from greek and means the verb shine!
Phenyl is because in the past people use it in bensen lampions,
but I couldn't find any information for the origin of  the word bensen!
I hope that someone will help me because it's some interesting chemical

information and will be usefull not only for me.



P.S. sorry, if there are some language mistakes, but i`m not a english

speaker-person! I`m just learnig.

As Bensene ( = Benzene) is coming from the European “Benzol” take a view under the historical Part on:

"Benzene”

(It’s coming from an Arabic Expression.)
