single displacement reactions...
« on: February 01, 2005, 05:39:14 PM »
when a single displacement reaction occurs, i know that oxidation and reduction occurs as well. can somebody please explain to me what exactly happens to the compound and other element? i think i have an idea, but i dont think im right.  we haven't learned this in class yet but i need to know how it works for my project. my main question is, during a single displacement reaction, does the compound dissociate before the other element in the reaction replaces it?
