help please!!
« on: November 12, 2007, 11:15:42 PM »
Aluminum reacts with bromine to form aluminum bromide:

2Al + 3Br2 → 2AlBr3

If 25.0 g of Al and 100. g of Br2 react, and 60.9 g AlBr3 is recovered, what is the percent yield for the reaction?

can somebody help me out on working this problem?

Find the limiting reagent by stoichiometric relationships from your balanced equation.  Using the information given and the MW's convert to moles of AlBr3.

Go back and read your book on stoichiometric relationships, balanced equations and unit conversion.  Attempt the problem from what I have told you.

Firstly, it is required forum policy to demonstrate you have attempted to solve the problem if the problem is actually your homework. As much as we love to help you in furthering your understanding of chemistry, we absolutely abhor to complete your homework for you. One more point is please do not use "help" in the topic agenda.

Start by first converting the mass to moles first. The stoichiometic ratio in the given chemical equation is in terms of moles, not mass.
