Could you tell me something about chromotropic acid method?
I will use it to determine the total amount of alkaloids. I mix solution-chromotropic acid-sulfuric acid 98% (1:1:3), boil it in water bath 100'C for 10min and measure absorption at 570nm.
I would like to know what type of reaction is in this method. What is the chromogen?
