Product Deformulation - Reverse Product Engineering
« on: August 04, 2007, 02:05:50 PM »
Not sure if this is the proper category for this thread or not, but I'm going to give it a whirl. I don't know much about chemistry at all, so forgive my ignorance in this post. I'm looking for a skilled and qualified chemist or small chemistry lab to take a few products and deformulate them for me. I'm hoping the products can be broken down to determine their actual chemical and component make-up, or "product recipe." The products are skin/body lotions and creams.

Can anyone recommend a good chemist for this type of job or possibly give me more information on this side of the chemistry spectrum? Thanks!

Hi,
Did you find someone? I am looking for same. I did see this ad under the Chemistry Advertising section of this site:

Chemical consulting, R&D, analytical services, and patenting

Do you have an idea for a new product?
Do you want to reverse engineer your competitor's formula?
Do you need help patenting your chemical technology?

Let Conley Chemical Consulting take the complexity out of your chemistry.
www.conleychem.com

I sent him an e-mail today(no reply yet), while I continue to check around. I was thinking a chemistry professor or grad student at major university might also help. Post if you have any luck I will do same! :)

Best of luck with your product!

I don't endorse anyone's product but there are many companies that advertise this capability.

eg, look at http://www.chemir.com/Services/Deformulation.asp

Chemir fees are quite expensive.. 3-7k for deformulation... I would bet ConleyChem is in the same arena .. Seems like Major Universities would be a great option.. Or some chemists from overseas.. I hear India is competitive
