1)How do you explain the solubility for example, an ethanol in water and pentanne
using a structural formula?

2) would benzyl alcohol dissolve in NaOH?

3)what is the pH of aqueous ethanol? aqueous phenol?

I'm probably in over my head, but we know that ethanol is nonpolar and water is polar. Like dissolves like. When the two are not alike, you need an emulsifier in order to mix them. A common emulsifier is soap.
